Creamy Roast Beef & Corn

Creamy Roast Beef & Corn

I made this for the 10oz Baro. as a light lunch for 1.
You can do it for the larger one just adjust the ingredients.

(used the spoork because it is all I had - it is approx 2 tsp)

Take the bowl out of the black plastic now, in the 10oz Baro it is tight and it is hard to remove the bowl after you have the food in it without spilling, or at least for me it is.  :)

Put liner in the bowl, then add meal and water to rehydrate it.

Creamy Roast Beef & Corn ****
2 spoons of Creamy White Sauce
2-4 spoons of Roast Beef FD
2-4 spoons of Sweet Corn FD
Let rehydrate in 4 Tablespoons water for 5 min or so.

Ready to cook?  Add 4 Tablespoons water to the heat pack.,
Lock on the lid and let it cook!

Epic Fail ;( Dessert in Baro Cook

Epic Fail ;( Dessert in Baro Cook

So I make a dessert pack to try in the Baro. It had Chocolate Chips with peanut flour and sugar cookie mix. - Aiming for Chocolate Peanut butter Sugar cook in a pan.
Not putting on my readers is dangerous ~ I put too much water in the mix (not the first time, you would think I'd learn :) So I added a second mix I had with me that was Chocolate chips with powered cherries and macaroon mix. Sounded good but it didn't "bake" as I hoped. In the end it was a heavy pudding spoonable consistency. Tasted good, and was chocolate but not what I hoped for.
I'll microwave these recipes in a mug next time.

chocolate chips
peanut flour
sugar cookie
+ 2 Tablespoon water
1 minute Micro high

chocolate chips
powdered sweet cherries FD
macaroon mix
+1 1/4 Tablespoon water (no more!)

Using Quinoa & Brown Rice with Garlic from Sams Club
Chicken FD, Cranberries FD and B├ęchamel (Creamy White Sauce) from Thrive Life.

Traveling in the air

Many types of outdoor gear can be taken with you on the plane, but there are also various items that you have to either place in your checked luggage or leave behind altogether.

For example, camping fuel, burning paste and gel fire starters are all prohibited from carry on or checked luggage. However, because Barocook heating packs are flameless and are neither fuel nor gel, they are safe to take with you on the plane.

If you plan on traveling by plane and are bringing along any outdoor gear, you'll find this TSA article most valuable.

Tomato Beef & Broccoli for 10oz Baro Cook

Tomato Beef & Broccoli for 10oz Baro Cook

Feel free to multiply the recipe:
    x 3 for 28 oz Baro Cook
x 4 for 44 oz Baro Cook or Pint Meal in a Jar
x 8 for Quart  Meal in a Jar Meal

1/4 cup Ground Beef FD  (calories-105)
1/4 cup Green Peas FD   (calories-50)
1 Tablespoon Thrive Tomato Sauce    (calories-35)
1/4 cup broccoli  (calories-10)
1 Tablespoon Thrive Cheese Blend (calories-35)

add  6-8 tablespoons (3oz-4oz) water,
stir to make sure all the water is absorbed,
add more water it you want it a thinner consistency.
Let rehydrate for 5-10 minutes.
Add 4 tablespoons (2oz) to the small heat pack.
Lock on the lid and let it cook..

I usually do this in the airport about 1/2 hr before boarding. So all the steam release is done and I can then slip the cooker in my carryon/ under the seat bag. It will continue to cook and be hot for about 1/2 hour and is ready to eat usually before I am. It will stay warm for about an hour so I pull it out and eat when they serve drinks, and everything is cleaned up (the heat pack is cold) and ready for the trash.

Clean up is a Snap!

Clean up is a Snap!

I experimented with Reynolds Oven bags to see if they would work with the heat the Baro created.
I am happy to say YES!!!
It is SO easy to clean up!!

I actually found some Turkey size bags in the cupboard that I never used so I cut it up to fit the cooker and the largest challenge was to remember to use the line when I used the cooker. I found that a 16 x 17 bag would make 3 liners for the 28oz or 44oz cook box. I cut the bag across approx 8" up from the closed bottom and then opened both sides of the remaining piece and it worked well. I will have to try different size bags to see what I like best.

But I totally liked not having to CLEAN the pot after eating each meal.

Loveland Co PE Show

Loveland Co PE Show

This is the first booth at a gun show with Baro Cook I have done. I like how my booth setup talked to many of the vendors and there was a fair to good crowd of customers who were intrigued with the flameless cooking.

We stopped on at Carl Jr's for a breakfast biscuit, but when I got my booth uncovered I had a couple interested vendors so before I got to eat my sandwich it was cold.  I put my sandwich in the 28oz pan and used a 20g heat pack to demo how they work and reheated my sandwich - Worked great!!

I made the brown sign to be a table runner and I think I will make a banner that fits between my grid for the next show.  Which I will post here for those who follow the PE shows or Tanner show - I can't be at all of them like most of the vendors but you can find me here online anytime!
